If I Ever Needed The Ark [>7" rain]...

...tonight's the night!

I missed the boat last Friday, then I was sick all week and now this official hurricane statement:

Rainbands moving onto the coast of the Carolinas...Tropical Storm Ernesto nears the coast...areas affected...this statement is for residents the counties of northeast South Carolina...a Tropical Storm Warning and Hurricane Watch are in effect for the coastal counties from the South Santee River in South Carolina to Surf City North Carolina. Tropical storm conditions are forecast into tonight...and hurricane conditions are possible. A Flood Watch is in effect for heavy rain across the area.
Ernesto was moving toward the north-northeast near 18 mph.
On this forecast track the center of Ernesto is expected to move inland along the Brunswick County coast before 11 PM.Maximum sustained winds remain near 70 mph with higher gusts...preparations should be completed by now as the weather deteriorates further. Prepare for heavy rain...possible flooding and strong winds.

Wake me when it's over.
Bring tuna & catnip.

Don't forget this weekend's Carnival of the Cats

Oh Frabjous Day!

NOT!
Just when I was settling in on one of my favorite nests
for a first nap of the day, guess what!?!

Without warning, she rudely shoved me into my carrier and took me to the VET for poking, pinching, and more poking.

GAWD!

But I insisted on photos this time, to document the indignity of this monstrous hoax perpetrated on an angel-faced kitty.

Can you see me above crying for help? No one came, at least not to help. Just the vet and her iron-fisted hand-maiden. Don't worry though, I plan on being the human next lifetime and then we'll see who gets the bum's rush.

In the meantime, it seems boarding for Friday Ark #101 has begun, and I better hurry if I want to get my ticket punched.
[Drat it all, I'm left here on the dock until they return.]

ITMT, check out the Carnival of the Cats,
this Sunday at Catymology.

And we can only echo boo_licious' hope that Claire, Kiri & Casey are "A-ok."
Thankfully for us, she will hold down the fort to host
Weekend Cat Blogging #64. Yay for boo_licious!

Survivor ~ Cats' Abode

And Then There Was One: Taboo!

After 15 years of soft living, the sweet little cat born 17 years ago
in Columbia, South Carolina, won Survivor ~ Cats' Abode.
For her efforts, she gets all the toys and the down comforter.
Because she frequently misses
her 3 dearly departed companion kitties,

she decided to make new friends at
Friday Ark's #100 Centennial Edition
and
Carnival of Cats,
this next week at Red Peonies.
This just in...
Heather is offering to host
Weekend Cat Blogging #62.
Be sure to drop by
and sign in with her.

True Story...

While waiting on line this morning at a Wal-Mart automotive department
in South Carolina fer god's sakes
,
a friend asked the other shoppers there, "Who thinks there's a terror alert today because Ned Lamont won yesterday?"

Everybody, she said, raised their hand.

By late summer, you might have flowers,
and by late fall you can harvest an abundance of ginger root.
Repeat if spring returns.

"My Goodness..."

By Mark Wilson, Getty Images

I'm betting that Rumsfeld's goodness is not what Senator Clinton had on her mind.

Clinton: "Under your leadership there have been numerous errors in judgment that have led us to where we are. We have a full-fledged insurgency and full-blown sectarian conflict in Iraq."

"We hear a lot of happy talk and rosy scenarios, but because of the administration's strategic blunders — and frankly the record of incompetence in executing — you are presiding over a failed policy. Given your track record, Secretary Rumsfeld, why should we believe your assurances now?"

"There's a track record here. This is not 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, when you appeared before this committee and made many comments and presented many assurances that have frankly proven to be unfulfilled."

And he squawks pathetically: "My-y-y-y goodness."

[Translate: "Shame on you, little woman, for daring to confront me." I guess he forgot she used to be the first lady and married to a real president.]
